Choppy

So I recently cut off more than half of my hair. I have approximately more than a foot to donate but I haven't decided exactly where yet. It was something I have been wanting to do for a while. The length looks so good on the likes of Alexa Chung and Freja beha erichsen but once I discovered the blog Gary Pepper Vintage I fell in love. Nicole warne is basically my style idol and the cut won me over. I do the winged liner everyday and everything, but that actually started before I found her. The actual experience at the salon was utterly liberating. Everyone was so shocked that I would cut away my long tresses and they all screamed "no!"as my hairstylist, Kimberly, performed the deed. To be honest, I had to keep myself from giggling! I was so sure of my decision that I was laughing at everyone else who told me it wouldn't look good. Not in a mean way, just the kind of way in which it was a symbol of my own confidence. Confirmation from others or not, I was going to live for myself. I have hid behind the length for so long, truly believing that I wouldn't look pretty without it. But I understand more than ever that as long as I am pretty to myself no one can tell me different. Well they can but just smile at them and maybe kill them with a little kindness. When I can back to school, the reaction I got was overwhelming. People would stop me telling me that they loved it or it looked so good; I know the reason why might have to do with a little self assurance boost. So ladies, I hope you all decide to make your best accessory a glowing smile!

Oasis

Well we all know who has been an utter sloth now that school has ended. Yours truly that's who. Anyway these pictures are from Memorial Day weekend when I was in Vegas. Memorial Day is around the time when everything feels like summer, and we spent the weekend like it was. We cooled off in the Marriott pool and gorged ourselves on Thai iced tea boba. The weekend was ridiculously gorgeous and it was great fun to pretend it was summer already. I will be posting a heck of a lot more often now that I have all the time in the world. I will be leaving for the Bahamas very shortly and expect some tropic takes up on the blog!

Cherry Bomb

So happy to finally take this little beauty out for a spin. April, I must say you are killing it with the weather. There is plenty of sun to accentuate every hue in the world, but a crisp breeze is there to remind us we haven't made it to summer yet. In this case it is a good thing because I have been buckling down, trying to finish off my junior year right. So close, but not there yet. Is it weird that I sort of relish having to work hard? Don't get me wrong sometimes I wish we could fast forward through all the painstaking hours spent writing labs, essays, studying for exams, etc, but I like to look back at everything knowing I put in a good effort. And I might as well look cute while I'm at it. It is impossible not to feel cute in this dress. The punchy color and fun print are great on their own, and the nude heels make it that much more chic. (Heels wisely not worn to school, I would die a painful death by stairs) Red is also a very powerful color. To me it doesn't scream look at me, it sophisticatedly announces look at me, I am ready, I am confident, and I am classic. I would want it to be no other way as I powered through my Bio final. However, I could have received the memo that we were covering the Red Scare and communism in the 1950s in history today before my teacher conveniently mentioned red being a "commy" color while (most likely) deliberately looking at me. Cue an awkward twenty seconds of eye contact with everyone who turned to look at me. Hey at least I am cute.

Easter Flowers

Happy Easter everyone! I realize I haven't posted in quite awhile, but I will continue to be on a little break from the blog in order to concentrate on finishing off my junior year well! Hopefully I can squeeze in a couple new posts here and there but I cannot say when. I hope that everyone can feel the love of Jesus Christ today and all days and wish everyone a wonderful upcoming month of April!

Shamrock Stripes

This year my family is getting ready for spring early. It's a little more than halfway through February and a lot of our spring cleaning is already done! For me the best way to introduce the new season was mixing pastels with a nice dark evergreen. I received this stunning necklace as a gift and cannot get enough of it! It also reels in plenty of compliments, so thanks Blair! My style has been evolving very rapidly lately, and I think it is because parts of my personality are changing. I am becoming a little more daring in my clothing choices and going for things people my age normally don't gravitate to. Which is a departure from me always wanting to be delicate, romantic, and effortless. However, coming up with these outfits is truly effortless for me, and they make me happy. So I don't care if my friends will say it is cute, but also be a little apprehensive about ever wearing it themselves. Because I like shirts with zebra heads on them or one with a really bold grid print that might be a tad too busy. I love it all. My head is bustling with creative ideas, and I find satisfaction in creating interesting ensembles from pieces people normally don't work with. I like wearing something that no one else will wear. Mixing stripes and polka dots? Sure! Add some pop by contrasting pastels and jewel tones? Why not! Clothes and fashion, for me, are the best way I can set myself apart from everyone else. I am not your average sixteen year old girl, and when people look at me, I want them to know I have a unique story. So while I believe fashion has some strict rules that everyone should adhere to (like don't pair knits with another knit that is the same pattern or skirts have to sit at the appropriate part of your waist or the whole outfit could be ruined), it is also a part of life where you don't have to live by the book. Now go forth and enjoy what you want to wear!
