Shamrock Stripes

This year my family is getting ready for spring early. It's a little more than halfway through February and a lot of our spring cleaning is already done! For me the best way to introduce the new season was mixing pastels with a nice dark evergreen. I received this stunning necklace as a gift and cannot get enough of it! It also reels in plenty of compliments, so thanks Blair! My style has been evolving very rapidly lately, and I think it is because parts of my personality are changing. I am becoming a little more daring in my clothing choices and going for things people my age normally don't gravitate to. Which is a departure from me always wanting to be delicate, romantic, and effortless. However, coming up with these outfits is truly effortless for me, and they make me happy. So I don't care if my friends will say it is cute, but also be a little apprehensive about ever wearing it themselves. Because I like shirts with zebra heads on them or one with a really bold grid print that might be a tad too busy. I love it all. My head is bustling with creative ideas, and I find satisfaction in creating interesting ensembles from pieces people normally don't work with. I like wearing something that no one else will wear. Mixing stripes and polka dots? Sure! Add some pop by contrasting pastels and jewel tones? Why not! Clothes and fashion, for me, are the best way I can set myself apart from everyone else. I am not your average sixteen year old girl, and when people look at me, I want them to know I have a unique story. So while I believe fashion has some strict rules that everyone should adhere to (like don't pair knits with another knit that is the same pattern or skirts have to sit at the appropriate part of your waist or the whole outfit could be ruined), it is also a part of life where you don't have to live by the book. Now go forth and enjoy what you want to wear!

The Red Queen

Happy Day After Valentine's Day! I have always been a little on the fence about peplum. I like them in some dresses, but tops, I was definitely iffy on. I always see Hailey Baldwin wearing them in her Instagram pictures, and while she could definitely pull it off, I just never really took a liking to them. My friend got me this top for my birthday and I instantly loved the color, but was unsure if I would ever wear it. Until I took it out to dinner with my family, and it was the simplest, semi-dressy outfit ever. Easy to move in and comfortable to sit in, this outfit was a total dream. Don't you hate looking cute, but being so uncomfortable the whole time? It's a sacrifice we have all endured. I have now decided this outfit will be my go-to going out look whenever I don't have enough time or just don't know what to wear. So cheers to enjoying all the chocolate and sweets you want without having to fuss and fret about your clothes!

12 Suburbia Lane

Seriously sorry for the lack of posts. I was sick for about two weeks, with the height of said illness being while I was away in Palo Alto for a conference at Stanford. That day was not fun, but I did get free food so they took care of me well. It is so unfortunate that I was sick and had to go business casual or else a nice post would have been up taken full advantage of Stanford's beautiful campus. Sickness has been going around this winter like a wildfire and I have been ill twice in two months (three because it carried over into February?). I really need to keep up with my vitamins, this is too ridiculous. It has been quite cold here as well, and I am running out of cold weather outfit ideas. Luckily my sickness has given me the excuse of wearing jeans and sweatshirts for two weeks straight. Not to mention my two days that I was absent lounging in a full on marshmallow outfit (the baggiest sweats I own). Let's hope I get a stroke of fashion genius real fast or things might get really boring around here.
